I got it...I got it.

I signed up with my new bank a couple of weeks ago, and one of the incentives was a free iPod Shuffle. But you had to have direct deposit of some sort. I have child support that is directly deposited. So I finally got it today. I love my iPod. I love it I love I love it. So easy to work with. I already have about 15 songs on it. I got Carrie Underwood's Jesus Take the Wheel and Don't Forget to Remember me. And Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's Songs...love them. Some Lonestar Songs. Actually its more than a variety. Well, gotta go download more songs....lol.

A good thought.

A fellow blogger had a poll up on Welfare. On how many hours per week one should work in order to qualify for benefits. She has 20, 30 and 40 hours a week. I chose the 20 hours because when my Son was younger, I had no car, no washing machine or dryer. No phone. I was living in pure hell to say the least. My Son was 3 years old, and I had to take the bus up to the laundry mat. It was torture. But I made it thru. On what? Pure determination. I chose not to depend on my family. As it isn't their fault things worked out the way they did. I never wanted to intrude in their lives. Every weekend on Saturday would be laundry day. We would catch the bus at 830 in the morning, ride up to the laundry mat. Do 3 loads, get on the bus again. Sit at the bus stop a mile down the road, wait for 20 minutes then finally go home. It was a 4 hour trip. Going to Public Aid was worse. If I had a appt. at 830 in the morning that meant getting up at 5 just to catch the bus at 6. It was a 2 hour trip there and a two hour trip back home. And what made it so bad was if I left a paper at home I would get denied or my benefits cut. Then have to make the trip AGAIN with my Son in tow. I think the worst day for me was when it was July 1st. I turned in all my ppwk, mailed a copy and took one in. And I didn't get my benefits because my caseworker went on vacation. She didn't have time to make sure I got my benefits. Needless to say, she is no longer my caseworker. I wasn't the only one she did it too. It was a battle for me. That was when I decided to do something for myself and went back to school. I worked the work study program while my Son was in daycare on campus. I earned enough money for a used car. Public Aid went down my throat on that one. They said I could not own anything worth over $1500 on a car. Pissed me off. But that was fine cause I only paid $1100 for it. But I had a car and it was MINE. I had finally got my freedom back. It was so much easier to deal with the laundry thing. Most people don't realize the shit we go through on public aid. Especially on how they can dig into your lives. I thank my lucky stars I have been completely honest with them on every aspect of my life. So for all welfare recipients, good luck on getting off as its difficult to do. Sometimes we have no choice but to get help. And we shouldn't be criticized for reaching out for something that is there to help us.

Can ya hear me?

Not much going on, been busy. I have been cleaning most of the night. I have been taking lots and lots of pictures. Mostly of flowers. And Big Block, aka, Tux, aka Yo Yo, aka whatever you want to call him. He's getting so big. His fur has become so soft. He sure loves to eat. Right now he is asleep on the chair. When he is old enough he is getting fixed. The other kitties are doing great. Ben loves the outdoors. Gidget was sick, we took her to the vet....she had a cold. She is fine now. Jonathan is doing good. He lost yet another tooth one with a silver crown on it. Which is fine cause he has a tooth pushing thru. He starts 4th Grade on Thursday. I am so nervous. My Son is getting so big. He is going to be 10 next year. OMG OMG. Well not much else going on. Been way too busy to think about anything.

My Son is sick...

And he doesn't get sick very often. Its probably just a bug, gonna let him sleep. And relax and rest. If he is still sick tomorrow then I will keep him home from daycare. It hasn't been a good couple of weeks. Too much stress going on. I am trying not to let it bother me. I am pissed about a few things as well but I will not put my personal life on the internet, Not everyone needs to know my business. I just have to think to myself it will be better soon. I've been trying to figure out to keep my mind off of things. I started my curtains finally. I got one side done, I also started making my own seed packets for the seeds from my garden. I am teaching my Son where seeds are located in certain flowers. He was excited when he picked his own seeds from the flower he brought me home from school. He goes, now we can have it next year too. I have tons and tons of marigold seeds. So if anyone wants one or two, let me know....I will have plenty to share. There are mostly annuals that I am harvesting. Moss roses, strawflowers, dahlias, and whatever else I can find. Wish me luck!!!!!

I really dont care.

Well maybe I do, Iam starting something new this year. I am going to be ready for the school year with my Son. I am going to invest in ALOT of pencils. Last year, he would constantly break them to NOT do his homework. That won't happen this year.

In other news, I shampooed my place yesterday. Living room, Kitchen, bathroom, hallway and my bedroom. It was pretty bad, going thru the winter tracked in tons of mud. I have an agenda this week to get all the walls painted again to give it a fresh look. I get bored with the same old same old. Well I am off to bed.
